Malayo sa pamilya. Malayo sa mahal sa buhay. Pero bawat buwan, nagpapadala ako — dahil yun ang alam kong paraan para magmahal mula sa malayo.
Tapos isang araw, nagkatanong ako sa sarili ko:

Para sa retirement na walang direksyon?
Para sa ipon na nauubos lang?
O para sa isang bagay na mananatili — kahit wala na ako?
Noong 2018, kasama ang aking asawa, tumigil na kaming mangarap at nagsimula na kaming kumilos.
Itinanim namin ang unang binhi — literal at figurative. Isinilang ang ๐ณ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐. Hindi lang para kumita — kundi para iangat ang mga magsasaka, lumikha ng kabuhayan, at ibalik ang dignidad ng pagsasaka.
Noong 2019, umuwi na ako. For good.
Pinagpalit ko ang scrubs ko sa rubber boots. Ang sterile na hospital rooms sa bukid at putik. At sabi ko sa sarili ko — ๐ช๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฏ๐ข. ๐๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฏ๐ข ๐ข๐ฏ๐จ ๐ต๐ถ๐ฏ๐ข๐บ ๐ฏ๐ข ๐ถ๐ธ๐ช.

Isa sa maituturing naming pinakamadilim na parte ng buhay namin.
Araw-araw, nagising kami sa pagkamatay ng aming mga hayop — lima, sampu, dalawampu. Yung pinagsikapan namin, namamatay sa harap namin. Umiyak kami. Nanalangin. Halos sumuko.
Pero hindi kami sumuko.
Noong 2021, na-accredit kami ng Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) bilang Learning Site for Agriculture. Noong 2022, naging opisyal na Training Center kami sa ilalim ng TESDA. Natanggap din namin ang suporta ng PhilRice, PhilMech at iba pang ahensya.
Dahan-dahan, ang Linchoco farm ay hindi na basta farm — naging lugar na ito ng pag-asa at pagbabago.
